Communications: Media Studies

The minor in Media Studies introduces students to the histories and theories of media, as well as introductory and intermediate coursework in video and audio production and postproduction.  

The Media Studies minor may be of special interest to majors in Cinema Studies, English, Art, Drama, World Languages & Literature, Business, and any other major who may be interested in a creative career in the media/arts/entertainment industries. Upon completion of the program:  

• Students will be able to demonstrate competence in the skills of media analysis. 

• Students will be able to draw upon the histories of mass media technologies, institutions, practices and uses as social, political and economic forces. 

• Students will be able to demonstrate intermediate level proficiency in video and/or audio production.
