An examination of the major theories and recent research on human emotions, including findings from diverse areas such as animal research, learning theory, human development, and advances in psychotherapy. Students will explore the nature of emotions, changes in emotions seen throughout development, stress and the regulation of emotions, and emotional and social intelligence. Additionally, cultural and societal considerations as well as emotional well being and psychological disorders will be addressed.
