Description

Introduction to the philosophical texts and ideas found in the traditions of China, Japan and India. The focus is on Confucian, Daoist, Buddhist, Shinto and Samurai thought. Themes addressed include: the nature of reality and human nature, the self, knowledge, how to live well, and the good society. Where possible, comparisons will be made with classical Greek and European Enlightenment thinkers. NOTE: This course may be used to satisfy the East Asian Studies Minor.
