Historical perspectives of economic development and general theories of retardation followed by specific policy issues facing economic planners. Problem areas to be discussed include social capital, agriculture, industry, manpower utilization, fiscal policy, foreign aid, and the interaction of political, social, and cultural factors as they affect economic development.
