An examination of the experience of Africans under colonial rule from the average person to traditional chiefs or the aristocratic class. This course analyzes the reactions of various classes of African society to colonial rule, focusing on the methods used by Africans to manipulate European colonial authorities, as well as the colonial response. For History majors and minors, this is designated as a World history course. Prerequisites: Any 200-level history course or 200-level African American Studies course and ENG 151
